Stereo Stack/Unstack Tutorial
This tutorial will give you a quick introduction to the Stereo Image Stack and Stereo Image Unstack tool.
The stereo images are input from two separate files.
Add the Stereo Image Stack tool from the Tools->Awake menu, or from the tool bar item 'SiSt'.
The right image connects to the orange (primary) input. The left image connects to the green (secondary) input.
Top and bottom stacking is the default method. The top half is from the right image, and the bottom half is from the left image.
The side by side method places the left on left and the right on the right. This stacking method is useful for outputting to a split screen monitor stereo projection system.
Images can be stacked by interlacing the rows with the left image on the even rows, and the right image on the odd rows. Though not generally used in stereo flows, being able to stack non-interlaced frames is a helpful addition to the stereo image stack tool.
Flip the left and/or right input images to correct images captured with a beam splitting camera rig. Adding watermarks helps identify the input images with a small red square added to the left image, and a small cyan square added to the right image. If you forget which way to wear you anaglyph glasses, just line them up with the watermarks.
Input image sizes must be known by the tool. This allows scripts to activate and disable the left and right image images and increase preview speeds. This process will be described in more detail in another tutorial. Just remember, if your tool fails, hit "Reset Size" and it should fix itself.
Add the Stereo Image Unstack tool from the Tools->Awake menu, or from the tool bar item 'SiU'.
Output the left image. Remember to set the Stack Type and Image Size.
Output the right image.
Combine the images to create an anaglyph image. The PS anaglyph method is the default anaglyph method. This is extremely useful for quick evaluation before rendering to a projector system.
Removing color from the anaglyph helps a person resolve the depth in the image more easily. If you are producing videos for others to see I suggest a gray-scale anaglyph.
Generate an anaglyph using the LSA anaglyph method. If you need color in your anaglyph, this is the suggested method.
