Task List

The Tasks List is separated into three tabs:

  • Tasks - Displays the tasks for the selected job.
  • Details - Displays the details for the selected job.
  • Statistics - Displays some statistics for the selected job.

Tasks

This list shows all the tasks for the job selected in the Jobs list. It also displays useful information about each task such as it's frame list, status, error count, etc. You can customize what info is displayed by right-clicking on the column headers and using drag & drop to change their order.

You can VNC into the machine that is currently rendering, or has rendered, a task by double-clicking on it. You can also access many options for a task, which are listed below, by right-clicking on it. Note that the availability of these options can vary depending on the context in which they are used.

Refresh Job

Refresh the job that is currently selected in the job list.

Connect by VNC

Connect to a remote machine via VNC. If the VNC encrypted password is not stored in the Repository settings, you will be prompted for the password. Click here for information on configuring VNC in Deadline. This option is available if the VNC Repository settings allow for remote connections.

Connect by Remote Desktop

Connect to a remote machine via Remote Desktop. Simply enter your user name and password and click Connect. Click here for information on configuring RDC in Deadline. This option is only available if the Remote Desktop settings allow for remote connections.

Connect by Remote Administrator

Connect to a remote machine via Remote Administrator. Click here for information on configuring Radmin in Deadline. This option is only available if the Remote Administrator settings allow for remote connections.

Find Slave In Slave List

Selects the slave in the slave list that has rendered or is currently rendering the selected task. This option is only available if the Remote Administrator settings allow for remote connections.

output file name -> Default Viewer

Allows you to view the output for this task. If the task contains multiple frames, an image viewer dialog will appear, allowing you to choose which output to view.

This option is available if Deadline is aware of a job's output filename, which is specified during submission.

Copy Render Path -> output file path

Allows you to copy the output file path for this task to the clipboard. This option is available if Deadline is aware of a job's output filename, which is specified during submission.

Requeue Task

Requeues a completed task. This option is available if the task is in the completed state only. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Mark Task As Complete

Sets the task to the completed state. This option is available if the task is in the queued, rendering, suspended, or failed state. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Release Pending Task

If the job is frame dependent, releases a pending task. This option is available if the task is in the pending state only. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Mark Task As Pending

If the job is frame dependent, sets the task to the pending state. This option is available if the task is in the queued, rendering, suspended, or failed, or completed state. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Mark Task As Failed

Sets the task to the failed state. This option is available if the task is in the queued, rendering, suspended, or completed state. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Resume Failed Task

Resumes a failed task. If the entire job is failed, it will re-enter the queued state. This option is available if the task is in the failed state only. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Requeue Tasks by Slave

Requeues all the completed tasks rendered by this particular slave. This can be useful if a particular slave is constantly rendering bad frames. This option is available if there is at least one task in the completed state for that particular slave. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Blacklist/Un-Whitelist Slave

If the job has a blacklist, add the slave that reported the error to it. If the job has a whitelist, remove the slave from it. This option is available if the task is rendering or completed. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Submit Tasks As New Job

Submits the selected tasks as a new job. The new job will have the exact same properties as the original job. Note that the output produced by these tasks for the new job will overwrite output from the existing job, since the same output settings will be used. This option is available if you are the job's user, or if you are in super user mode.

Task Reports

Allows you to view the errors, logs, and requeue reports for a job.
  • View Errors
Allows you to view the errors for a specific task. The rendering time wasted due to errors is shown in the top-right corner. You can right-click on one or more errors to bring up a list of options.
  • View Logs
Allows you to view the task logs for a specific task.
  • View Requeues
Allows you to view the task requeues for a specific task. Selecting a requeue will show why the task was requeued. The rendering time wasted due to requeues is shown in the top-right corner.

Details

This shows all the details for the job selected in the job list, including files that were submitted with the job, the output directory path(s), which jobs it is dependent on, etc.

Statistics

This shows some statistics for the job selected in the Jobs list, including task timings, RAM and CPU usage, and error/log/requeue reports. You can right-click on the report rows to view/clear the reports.
