Installing Krakatoa

Krakatoa for 3ds Max has been compiled for the following versions:

  • 3ds Max 8
  • 3ds Max 9 (32-bit)
  • 3ds Max 9 (64-bit)
  • 3ds Max 2008 (32-bit), uses the same plugin as 3ds Max 9 32 bit
  • 3ds Max 2008 (64-bit), uses the same plugin as 3ds Max 9 64 bit

The setup program uses the Windows Installer. The install image is stored in an .msi file named:

KrakatoaX.Y.Z.msi

(where X,Y, and Z are the major version number, minor version, and build number, respectively.)

By default, the installer will copy the software (.dlo and .dlr plugins) and supporting files (licensing, scripts, icons) for all compiled versions, but you may optionally choose to limit the installation to a single component. The installation wizard will configure the plug-in path of ONE version of 3ds Max to load Krakatoa. Additional versions may be configured using Start > Programs > Frantic Films > Krakatoa > Add Krakatoa to 3ds Max.
